Prof. Alistair Nichol leads global COVID-19 clinical trial in Ireland
Prof. Alistair Nichol, Chair of Critical Care Medicine UCD, Chair of the Irish Critical Care trials group, Intensivist & Consultant Anaesthetist SVUH/UCD to lead international clinical trial in Ireland on COVID-19 ICU patients.
This global multi-centred trial is been set to evaluate potential treatments for COVID-19 patients. It will test a number of agents including antivirals and immunomodulatory agents to determine if these treatments are additionally beneficial to standard ICU supportive care.
The Irish Health Research Board (HRB) is to provide grants for funding the COVID-19 domains of REMAP-CAP, an international designed study set up to evaluate treatments for Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP).
This study has now been revisited & repurposed to evaluate COVID-19 patients .

The St. Vincents Anaesthesia Foundation gladly supports Dr Richard Assaf, Consultant Anaesthetist, in his continuing endeavours to provide aid to the Rosminians Fathers for the "Displaced Children's Fund" and the Fr William Stuart run school, part of the Schools for Syria project, based at the Rashidieh Refugee camp in Tyre, South Lebanon.
